The iQoo U3x has quietly debuted in China as an affordable 5G smartphone. The device carries the octa-core Snapdragon 480 chipset by Qualcomm that was unveiled in January 2021. The name of the smartphone suggests that the iQoo U3x is a refreshed version of the 5G-enabled iQoo U3 that was launched in China in December 2020 with the MediaTek Dimensity 800Uprocessor. The new smartphone looks similar to its sibling and packs the same 6.58-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The iQOO U3x has three storage variants, and its sale is set to take place from April 1 onwards. The Chinese smartphone maker is yet to share details over its global availability.
In terms of specifications, the newly launched iQOO U3x sports a 6.58-inch IPS LCD screen with a Full-HD+ resolution and waterdrop-style notch for the selfie camera. The screen panel supports a 20.07:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, and has 401ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it packs the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. On the contrary, the iQOO U3 packs up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It runs on Vivo’s Android 11-based OriginOS 1.1 operating system, with minor tweaks for iQoo phones.
Similar to the iQOO U3, the iQOO U3x also packs a dual rear camera setup that includes a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth-of-field lens coupled with and an LED flash. At the front, there’s an 8-megapixel camera with fixed focus and f/2.0 aperture. The camera app comes bundled with modes such as portrait mode, panorama, dynamic photo, pro mode, slow motion, time-lapse, and document correction. Other notable features on the smartphone include a dual SIM slot, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone slot. Lastly, it carries a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.
In terms of pricing, the iQOO U3x price in China starts at CNY 1,199 (approx Rs 13,300) for the base 4GB RAM and 128GB storage option and goes up to, CNY 1,499 (approx Rs 16,700) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model. The pricing details of the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant remains unclear. The phone is available in Grey and Magic Blue colour options.
