The Spectre x360 is on sale with prices starting $899.99 for the i5, 4GB model and $1,149.99 onwards for the i7, 8GB variant.

New Delhi: HP has made official what it calls as its 'most premium' product yet, the Spectre x360, which seems to compete with Apple's MacBook Air in terms of battery life.

Revealed at the Mobile World Congress, the high-end 2-in-1 laptop has a 15.9mm thick aluminium body that weighs 3.3 pounds.

The 3 Cell 56 Whr Lithium-ion battery is said to last up to 12.5 hours. A report in The Verge stated that HP tested its Spectre x360 that played back 1080p video for 11 hours straight and the MacBook Air - which still doesn't have a 1080p display - was able to display 720p video for 12 hours straight, which means HP's laptop beat Apple's flagship device.

Its display can be flipped backwards to work as a tablet. The 360 degree hinge transitions seamlessly to four modes: a stand mode to watch videos, a tent mode for playing games, a notebook mode to work, and a tablet mode to use the device on-the-go.

The Spectre X360 comes with an Intel Core i5 processor for 4GB memory and 128GB SSD and a variant with the i7 Broadwell processor for 8GB memory and 256GB SSD.

Both the variants sport a 13.3-inch touchscreen with a quad HD resolution. The laptop comes with a backlit keyboard that allows more flexibility of working in varied light condiitons.

Connectivity options include HDMI, mini display port, three USB ports and one headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack.

Powered with Windows 8.1, the Spectre x360 is on sale with prices starting $899.99 for the i5, 4GB model and $1,149.99 onwards for the i7, 8GB variant.
