Google to Launch iPhone-like Pixel Smartphones on October 5
Google is dropping its Nexus branding for future smartphones.

Internet search giant Google is hosting an event on October 5 to introduce new smartphones powered by its latest Android Nougat operating system. Dubbed as Pixel smartphones, Google will reportedly launch two handsets- Pixel and Pixel XL.

Online reports suggest that Google is dropping its Nexus branding for future smartphones and will launch them under its new Pixel brand. HTC is manufacturing the first Pixel handsets for Google.

Leaked images of the upcoming Pixel smartphones reveal a close resemblance with the iPhone 6S design. Both the Pixel smartphones flaunt an aluminum finish and feature a round fingerprint scanner at the back and will most likely feature USB Type-C connectivity. The handsets will reportedly run Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.

Google is also said to launch other products like 4K Chromecast, Google Home, and its Daydream VR device during the Pixel launch event, according to a report by AFP.
