New Delhi: After the historic ruling by the US Supreme Court legalizing same-sex marriage across the nation, the tech world chose to celebrate the occasion in their own ways. While these tech giants have a reputation of being Pride-friendly even before the ruling, they cheered the news that came well in time before the LGBT month draws to a close.

Here’s a look at how Facebook, Google, and Apple are celebrating LGBT Pride:

Facebook

Created with facebook.com/celebratepridePosted by Mark Zuckerberg on Friday, June 26, 2015

The social networking giant introduced a new rainbow filter to celebrate LGBT equality across its network. CEO Mark Zuckerberg changed his own profile picture first with a rainbow superimposed on it. You can also add the filter by visiting facebook.com/celebratepride to superimpose the rainbow banner over your profile picture.

Google

Google has created five Easter eggs across its services to celebrate the LGBT community. These include a custom theme for Gmail inboxes, a Pride Calendar banner for events with related keywords, Google Sheets where the word ‘Pride’- each letter written in a separate spreadsheet column-will trigger rainbow columns, the Hangouts eggs where typing ‘Happy Pride’ in Hangouts shows up random animation, including a parade of emoji waving a Pride flag, an animated rainbow, and two emojis kissing. Other than these if you search for #AndPride in Google Drive, it will trigger rainbow theme, while the standard Google search for related keywords will also show a rainbow banner. Google Play is offering a separate section with music, movies and books that feature LGBT artists or stories.

Apple

Hailing the landmark judgement, Apple CEO Tim Cook- who recently went public with his being gay, tweeted, "Today marks a victory for equality, perseverance and love." The tech giant added a Pride-themed featured section to its App Store to celebrate the US Supreme Court ruling on Friday. The section showcases movies, books and other media ‘reflecting the broad and diverse spectrum of LGBT pride’. The featured section is currently unavailable on iTunes.
