New Delhi: Just after hitting the one billion download on Android mark, Facebook Messenger has received its first game- a move by the social media giant to bring more user engagement to its messaging platform.
The first game, called ‘Doodle Draw for Messenger,’ is the first true game to be made available since the Messenger Platform for app development launched in April.
A report on TechCrunch notes that earlier, Facebook only allows content creation apps like GIF and sound effect makers on the Messenger Platform and the closest thing to a game was Talking Tom for delivering voice messages.
Facebook has been actively considering inserting games into its messaging platform. The company believes that Messenger Platform is currently best suited for apps that focus on content creation and curated content.
The new game, for iOS and Android, apparently takes cues from Draw Something- the 2012 game that got acquired by Zynga. To download the game, you simply need to tap on the more (•••) button in a Messenger chat thread to open the platform app list.
Currently, the app suggests a few things for you to draw, and there are only a limited set of colours. Players can earn points by playing to buy more colours.
