Uttarakhand set for BJP blitzkreig
BJP has been the first by announcing that its star campaigners will be out in full force in the poll-bound state.

New Delhi: While Uttar Pradesh is the cynosure of all political attention ahead of the crucial Assembly votes, neighbouring Uttarakhand is also gearing up for the big battle, with parties fielding their “star” campaigners to woo voters.

BJP has been the first among the rest by announcing that former prime minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Behari Vajpayee and former deputy prime minister L K Advani will visit the state to campaign for the state Assembly elections slated for February 21.

BJP’s Uttarakhand spokesperson Devendra Bhasin said former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh will also address public meetings at Sitargunj, Jaspur and Gadarpur on February 12 and at Laldhang, Bapugram, Rishikesh and Doiwala on February 13.

It’s not just about political star power. Bollywood actors-tuned-politicos are also out in full-force.

MP Hema Malini will address meetings at Bageshwar, Mukteshwar, Haldwani and Bajpur on the same day as Kalyan Singh’s speech.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will address public meetings at Pauri, Roorkee and Jwalapur. Mr Saheb Singh Verma will address the public of Ladhang.
