Tamarind Rasam, Thai Fried Chicken, Sumptuous Food For Congress MLAs Qarantined At Eagleton Resort

New Delhi: From Thai cuisines to traditional Kannada dishes, the platter has been laid out.

Congress MLAs inside Eagleton Resort are set to be treated to a host of dishes as the party tries to protect their electoral allegiance.

The menu begins with chicken lemon coriander soup for non-vegetarians and minestroni soup, a preparation of green beans, dried oregano and basil, among other veggies.

Main course line-up has items such as sliced fish in hunan sauce, kori gassi (chicken) and mutton dum biriyani.

Earlier, in an open invitation, the tourism department in God’s own country had thrown its resorts open to the MLAs to relax.

Taking to Twitter, Kerala Tourism started the ‘resort politics’, which basically means the trend of moving MLAs to resorts and undisclosed locations to prevent them from defecting. Though, the tweet was later taken down.

Other items in the menu include Palak Do Piyaza, Veg. Nizami Handi, Fried Eggplant in Hoisen Sauce, Pasta with Cheese Sauce, Aloo Capsicum, Dal Makhani and seven other items.

Resort politics is not new in India and the first instance of such a move goes back to 1983 when Karnataka Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hedge ‘protected’ his MLAs from Congress. A year later, NT Rama Rao-led Telugu Desam Party was hit by an internal tussle, he sent all their MLAs to Bangalore and then Delhi. Similar instances have happened in 1995 when Chandrababu Naidu moved his MLAs and again in 2002 when then Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh sent his MLAs to Mysore.

Just last year, Sasikala, in the face of a possible defection of her team to O Panneerselvam’s side, moved her MLAs to a resort near Chennai. Congress too, in August 2017, flew more than 40 of its MLAs to Bengaluru.

The newly-elected Congress MLAs were whisked away to Eagleton Resort on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway to thwart any attempts of horse-trading.

During the Gujarat Rajya Sabha election last year, the Congress had flown its Gujarat MLAs to the resort in Bengaluru to keep them under tight watch. Congress leader Ahmed Patel had eventually won the nail-biting election, which had a photo-finish complete with cross-voting and betrayal.
