Punjab BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu, in a hurry to reach Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence, got out of his vehicle and started running on the road when his envoy got stuck in traffic in the national capital on Sunday.

Visuals of Ravneet Singh Bittu running at a roundabout with guards in tow before entering PM Modi’s official residence were shared widely on social media.

“One should never be late,” the BJP leader was quoted by NDTV as saying.

Bittu added that many leaders were travelling to PM Modi’s residence, so he decided to get down and run instead of waiting in the traffic jam.

Ravneet Singh Bittu, the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, lost the Lok Sabha election from Ludhiana seat to the Congress’s Amrinder Singh Raja Warring by a huge margin. He had represented the Ludhiana seat in Modi 2.0.

Bittu, a former Congress leader who represented Ludhiana in the 17th Lok Sabha, had joined the BJP in March 2024.

“I am thankful to PM Narendra Modi…I can say with confidence that PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah share a lot of love for Punjab and they wish to do a lot for the state…Why should Punjab be left behind?…” Bittu had said after joining the BJP.

“The Prime Minister and the Home Minister always took it positively whenever I raised the issues of Punjab…We want to take Punjab forward,” he had added.

Ravneet Singh Bittu had been openly critical of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) despite Rahul Gandhi’s support for Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal, who was arrested by the ED on March 21 in the liquor policy scam case.
