Massive protests are taking place across Kerala over allegations against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the Solar Scam case. Chandy has moved High Court against the vigilance court order which allowed an FIR to be filed against him.

The youth wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) - Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) is protesting outside the Kerala Secretariat on Friday. Protestors have been pelting stones and violent clashes are taking place in Thiruvananthapuram. Security forces have been trying to restrict the protestors from advancing towards the secretariat by using tear gas shells and by barricading the area but the situation is still tense.

Meanwhile, Congress is hoping for a relief for Chandy from the High Court and is expecting that the court may quash the FIR against Chandy. Congress has been backing him dismissing demands for his resignation. "It is election time in Kerala, mischievous and malicious allegations will continue to fly... No need for the Kerala Chief Minister to resign now," Congress chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) will convene a meeting later on Friday to chalk out its strategy ahead.

Rattling the government, the prime accused in the case Saritha Nair had on Thursday targeted Chandy and Arayadan while deposing before the Justice Sivarajan Commission in Kochi, probing the case, and had alleged that she had paid bribes to the tune of Rs 1.90 crore to a close aide of the chief minister and Rs 40 lakh to the power minister. The two ministers have denied the allegations.
