New Delhi: Former cricket and BJP’s candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha bypolls Navjot Singh Sidhu has admitted in his reply to an Electron Commission (EC) notice that he used foul language against his Congress rival during a TV show.
Sidhu, in his reply said that the entire atmosphere went wrong when Congress candidate Surinder Singla called him a “murderer,” said EC Observer P S Randhawa on Tuesday.A notice was issued by the EC to Sidhu and Singla for using foul language during a live programme organised on a TV channel on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Singla, in his reply, said that it was Sidhu who first used abusive language and thereafter the supporters of BJP who had come with Sidhu went on rampage and smashed the stage, Randhawa said.
He said that the reply of both the candidates have proved that violation of Election Code of Conduct was committed.
A report has been prepared and would be sent to Election Commission to
take further action against both the candidates.
