Patna: Amid speculations that outgoing Railway Minister Lalu Prasad might not get any berth in the new Union Cabinet, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) camp was withdrawn from his bungalow in Patna on Tuesday.
The camp, with about 100 RPF personnel, was setup within the official bungalow of the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly Rabri Devi, his wife.
These jawans provided the security cover to Lalu Prasad during his tour across the state since he became the Railway minister five years ago.
Accordingly, the camp was set up within the complex of his residence at 10 Circular road.
Though neither any RJD leader nor any senior railway official was available to comment on the issue, it is believed that the camp as well as the protection force were removed in view of the possibility of Lalu Prasad losing the important ministry in the new Cabinet because of his poor show in the Lok Sabha polls.
Incidentally, in the just concluded election though the RJD supremo had won from the Saran Lok Sabha seat defeating BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy by about 36,000 votes, he suffered a humiliating defeat in the Pataliputra seat at the hands of his former colleague Ranjan Prasad Yadav.
Moreover, the party which had 22 MPs in the 14th Lok Sabha, would have only four seats this time to become a non-player in the ongoing democratic process.
