PM must get up from sleep and speak 'Mann Ki Baat' on Lalit Modi row: Congress
Seeking an explanation, the Congress raised five new questions directed at the Prime Minister.

New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi visa row, the Congress on Monday alleged that the PM is clearly involved in the controversy. Seeking an explanation, the Congress raised five new questions directed at the Prime Minister.

"Why is the Prime Minister silent on the controversy? It shows everything is happening with PM's consent," said former Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, adding that a "cover up is at play".

Continuing the offensive, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that four laws, including FEMA and Prevention of Money Laundering Act, have been violated by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje.

The Congress also raised questions on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's decision to give a clean chit to Vasundhra Raje over the alleged links between her son Dushyant and the former IPL czar.

"We want to aks Finance Minister whether Sushma Swaraj & Vasundhara Raje are not guilty of FEMA, Money Laundering & Passport Acts? We charge the Finance Minister of influencing the ED probe in Raje's son and Lalit Modi's case."

"ED and Additional Solicitor General have given an undertaking to HC, but Finance Minister said Dushyant Raje's case is just commercial transaction. How can we expect a fair investigation by the agency?" Ramesh added.

Taking a jibe at Modi's Mann Ki Baat, Ramesh said, "The PM should break his 'Maun Vrat' and now speak his 'Mann Ki Baat'. He must get up from his sleep and speak, if not all, he must answer at least few questions."
