Omar Will Be The Chief Minister Of Jammu And Kashmir, Says Farooq Abdullah
The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief said people had proven that they did not accept the Article 370 move of the BJP government at the Centre

As the National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance inched closer to winning the Jammu and Kashmir election 2024 with a clear majority, Farooq Abdullah said his son Omar would be the next chief minister of the union territory.

“Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister,” the senior Abdullah told reporters when asked who would be the alliance’s CM face.

Addressing the media in Srinagar, Farooq Abdullah said, “The people have given their verdict and proven that the decisions taken on August 5, 2019, (abrogation of Article 370) are not acceptable to them,” he said. “I am thankful to everyone that the people participated in the polls and did so freely. I am grateful to God for the results.” The former Union minister said the elected government would have do a lot of work to end the “sufferings” of the people.

He thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir and said, “This is people’s mandate.”

“We have to end unemployment and address issues like inflation and drug menace. Now, there will be no LG and his advisors. Now, there will be 90 MLAs who will work for people,” he said.

PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti Congratulates NC-Congress

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti congratulated the NC-Congress alliance and said, ” I think the people wanted a stable government and they thought that National Conference -Congress could give that and keep BJP away.”

Omar Abdullah Wins Budgam Seat

National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah won the Budgam assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, defeating the PDP’s Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi by a margin of more than 18,000 votes.

Abdullah, who is also leading from the family bastion of Ganderbal, secured 36,010 votes in Budgam, while Mehdi got 17,525 votes. He visited Budgam and said people supported us more than we expected.
