Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has described Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Bihar Chief Minister as a wound received from plastic slippers. According to Singh, the pain suffered during that period is still fresh in the minds of the people of Bihar.
Speaking exclusively to News18, the Union minister said that people of were voting in favour of NDA in Bihar elections due to the fear of Jungle Raj part 2, ruling out speculations that the JDU-RJD-Congress Mahagathbandhan had an edge over the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the first two phases of polling. He claimed that the BJP would win 50 seats out of 82 for which polling were held in first and second phase.
Here is an excerpt from the interview:
News18: Do you think inflation is an issue in this elections because Lalu, Nitish are saying eat chicken instead of pulses?
Radha Mohan Singh: Absolutely not. Since the Modi government took charge at the Centre, the inflation is pushed into the negative zone. Inflation and corruption are born from Congress rule. Modi government has put brake on them. As far as soaring prices of pulses and food oil are concerned, Central government has already hiked bonus on these crops. Even under the National Food Security Scheme, the Centre has released half of fund for production of pulses. The fund is meant for 622 districts of 27 states. West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh have already implemented the fund. Now it is time for Nitish to explain what happened to the fund. Only preaching won’t help him.
News18: But how can you help common man to understand these facts and data?
Radha Mohan Singh: Simple, as we have done in the past. This is useless thing. Lalu, Nitish are just trying to mislead people in the name of beef and reservation.
News18: What is the strategy of BJP in next two phases?
Radha Mohan Singh: Only development. Lalu won’t stand in the fray. Remember when in rainy season someone wears brand new plastic slippers and when the size differs, then what happens? You get wounded from those plastic slippers. And people can’t forget that pain. It haunts you every year. Lalu is similar to that wound you received from plastic slippers. People of Bihar will never forget the 15 years of Lalu rule.
News18: But Lalu is himself calling Nitish a ‘Vikas Purush’ and saying there is no need of Modi’s Development Model in Bihar.
Radha Mohan Singh: Listen. On one shoulder Nitish is carrying wife-husband (Lalu-Rabri) and on other shoulder mother and son (Sonia-Rahul). So which kind of development agenda is he talking about? People will teach them lesson. Lalu behaves like Big Boss and Nitish is sitting on his lap. Both are contesting on 100 seats each. If they form the next government in the state, indirectly Lalu will run the government. This is a well known fact and people of Bihar are aware about this.
News18: What is the meaning of increase in voting percentage and high turnout of women voters in first two rounds?
Radha Mohan Singh: People are angry. And anger is against Nitish and Lalu. Even women want BJP government in the state. The voting is in our favour.
