57. Kurud is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh and is part of Mahasamund Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Kurud falls in Dhamtari district and Central region of Chhattisgarh. It is categorised as a semi-urban seat.
There are a total of 1,94,081 voters in the seat, which includes 97,182 male voters, and 96,894 female voters. In the 2018 Chhattisgarh elections, Kurud recorded a voter turnout of 88.96%. In 2013 the turnout was 88.56%, and in 2008 it was 86.58%.
In 2013, Ajay Chandrakar of BJP won the seat by a margin of 27,177 votes (17.91%). Ajay Chandrakar secured 54.82% of the total votes polled.
INC won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 6,205 votes (4.59%), registering 47.58% of the total votes polled.
