JNUSU president Kanhaiya's family in Bihar says 'he has done no wrong'
The family in Bihar's Begusarai has called Kanhaiya's arrest an atrocity on their son of the soil.

Jawaharlal Nehru University's Student Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested on February 12 in a case of sedition, hails from a modest family in Bihar's Begusarai, which is also known as the Leningrad of Bihar.

Despite their modest background, Kanhaiya's family completely support their son and claim he has done nothing wrong.

While the jury is still out over the justification of his arrest, voices in Begusarai's Bihat village are in unison, calling Kanhaiya's arrest an atrocity on their son of the soil.

Kanhaiya hails from a leftist family, living in a region that is popularly known as the Leningrad of Bihar. His family and locals in the village say Kanhaiya has done no wrong.

Kanhaiya's family and village are in the firing line of right wing protesters. Members of Bajrang Dal, AVBP and other Hindu organisations have been staging protest marches, dharnas and road blockades outside Bihat village.

Kanhaiya comes from a modest background. His father is a farmer and his mother is an Aanganwadi worker. Even in this hour of crisis, the family's spirits are high, and throwing its weight behind them is the local left organisation.

While Kanhaiya's fate now remains in the hands of the court, his village is firmly standing by him.

What's your reaction?
