In all there are 14 Lok Sabha seats in the Jharkhand.

Ranchi: Just three days after saying it was still part of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), the Jharkhand Mukti Morch (JMM) has announced that it will support the alliance only if its nominee is accepted as the chief ministerial candidate in Jharkhand.

"No alliance has been finalised in Jharkhand. The UPA partners should first support our party's chief ministerial nominee. The seat sharing formula will be worked out only after this issue is sorted out," Durga Soren, former JMM legislator and eldest son of party chief Shibu Soren, told reporters here Thursday.

On Monday, the JMM had announced that it will remain part of the UPA and fight the Lok Sabha election along with alliance partners Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

As per the seat sharing formula announced at that time, the JMM, Congress and RJD were to contest four, six and two parliamentary seats respectively. The sharing of two seats - Hazaribagh and Koderma - had not been planned. In all there are 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

"How could a decision have been taken on seat sharing when my father was in hospital? He was not able to speak and discuss the political issue," Durga Soren said.

JMM Lok Sabha MP Hemlal Murmu had announced the seat sharing decision after Railway Minister and RJD Chief Lalu Yadav and Jharkhand Congress in-charge Kesav Rao met Shibu Soren at the All Indian Institute of Medical Science (AIMS) in New Delhi.
