'I Will Inform If...': Kamal Nath's Brief Response On BJP Rumours As His Aide Talks Of Self-Respect, Hurt
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh asked how can someone think a person who started his political journey and stood with the Nehru-Gandhi family when Indira Gandhi was sent to jail would ever leave Congress and the Gandhi family

While Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s “will inform if anything happens” response fueled the speculation about him and his son, Nakul Kamal Nath joining the BJP, fellow party colleagues rejected the reports.

One of his aides, Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma, however, hinted towards “insult and self-respect” being the driving factor behind the “change in a person’s decision”.

“Three things work in politics- respect, insult and self-respect, when these are hurt a person changes his decisions. When such a top politician who has done a lot for Congress and the nation in the last 45 years, thinks of moving away from his party, then all three factors work behind it. No decision has been taken that Kamal Nath ji is going, right there is just speculation…” Verma said.

Another party leader BK Hariprasad, while refusing to comment on Kamal Nath, said some leaders are looking for a “greener pasture”.

“…I can’t say on Kamal Nath, but some leaders looking for a greener posture, they are leaving the Congress party. That doesn’t make any change. Millions of workers are strongly behind the Congress party… Well, they (Kamal Nath) are the most greedy leaders, they are leaving the party for the greed of power…” the Congress leader said.

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh asked how can someone think a person who started his political journey and stood with the Nehru-Gandhi family when Indira Gandhi was sent to jail would ever leave Congress and the Gandhi family.

“I spoke to Kamal Nath at 10.30 pm yesterday, he is in Chhindwara. A person who started his political journey and stood with the Nehru-Gandhi family when Indira Gandhi was sent to jail, do you think he will ever leave Congress and the Gandhi family?” Digvijaya Singh said.

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari called the news “baseless” saying “how can you think Indira Gandhi’s third child will leave us?”

“For the first time when Kamal Nath fought elections, then Indira Gandhi said that Kamal Nath is her third son…in the 45 years of political journey of Kamal Nath, in both our good times and bad times, he has been working with the party for the last 7 years as Madhya Pradesh Congress chief. I still remember when Scindia toppled the Congress govt in MP, all the Congress workers stood with Kamal Nath’s leadership and ideology…the news that’s speculating is baseless…can you imagine Indira Gandhi’s third son leaving Congress? Can’t think about something like that even in dreams…” he said.

The development came after Congress leader Nakul Kamal Nath removed the party name and symbol from his social media bio.

Nakul Nath’s move sparked rumours that his father and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath could also join the BJP.

BJP’s top sources told News18 that Kamal Nath is likely to join the saffron party in the next 48 hours.
