Former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium is set to begin his probe into the alleged irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association. However, Subramanium has written to the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval demanding 5 senior officers of the central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), 5 officers of the Intelligence Bureau along with officers of the Delhi Police for conducting the probe.
On being asked why he has approached the NSA and not the Home Ministry, Subramanium said that Ajit Doval has himself been a distinguished police officer and has worked on several cases. He also added that since Doval has headed many operations, he has an idea of about the caliblre of the officers.
Subramnium also said that he wanted to be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances. "I have written to the NSA since I cannot anticipate what might happen so I do not want to take any chances," he said.
Former Solicitor General has accepted Delhi Government's request to head a Commission of Inquiry into affairs of DDCA. There has been a flaming war between the ruling Aam Aadmi party (AAP) and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the alleged irregularities in DDCA under his 13-year-old tenure as the cricket body's chief.
Subramanium had earlier said that he can begin his enquiry only after he gets a go-ahead from Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung. "There is absolutely no personal or any other interest except the game of cricket. When I enter this enquiry, I will start with a clean chit image of his and I have made this very clear to CM Kejriwal also. This is an enquiry which will follow due process, Subramaniam had said.
