Panaji: Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Monday said he is open to any probe into the Louis Berger bribery scandal.
"The tendering process was transparent. Have all documents. The company needs to substantiate the claims," Kamat said. Kamat had headed the government during the alleged bribery case involving a US firm in 2009.
The ruling BJP in Goa has sought a CBI probe into the bribery case. "A party delegation will soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Rajnath Singh demanding an inquiry through CBI into the bribery scam. The guilty should be punished," BJP's Goa unit president Vinay Tendulkar said.
Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told CNN-IBN that he has asked the Goa crime branch to gather facts and submit a report in two-three days.
Union Minister and former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar had on Sunday hinted that two ex-ministers might be involved in the alleged bribery case.
New Jersey-based construction management firm Louis Berger has been accused of bribing Indian officials for two major water development projects in Goa and Guwahati.
