Delhi elections: Congress fields Surendra Kumar from Arvinder Singh Lovely's Gandhi Nagar seat
The decision has come two days after the AICC asked Lovely to withdraw from the contest and look after organisation of the elections.

New Delhi: Surender Prakash Sharma, a close associate of Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, was on Tuesday made the party candidate for Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency.

The decision, which was announced by senior Congress leader and in-charge of party affairs in Delhi PC Chacko, has come two days after the AICC asked Lovely to withdraw from the contest and look after organisation of the elections.

Lovely, who was earlier nominated from the Assembly seat, had featured in Congress' first list of candidates, which also had names of seven other sitting MLAs of the party.

The Gandhi Nagar Assembly seat has been a pocket borough for Lovely. The party also announced that Meenakshi Chandila will be the party's candidate for the Rajouri Garden seat in place of Dhanwati Chandila.
