Mamata Banerjee is learnt to have offered 14 seats to Congress.

New Delhi: A deadlock has surfaced over share of seats between the two Opposition parties to fight the ruling Left Front in the state.

Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee is learnt to have offered 14 out of the 42 seats in the state to the Congress, including six constituencies which are presently held by the party in northern parts of Bengal.

But the Congress, which is eyeing to take its tally up to at least 10, is reportedly dissatisfied with the offer.

Though Bengal's Pradesh Congress President Pranab Mukherjee met the Trinamool supremo on Sunday and promised to make a formal announcement soon, neither of the two parties have laid bare the details of this proposed alliance so far.

On Sunday night Trinamool Congress and the Congress party announced that they have formed an alliance to jointly fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the communist-ruled state.

The decision to form the alliance was reached after a 70-minute meeting between Pranab Mukherjee and Mamata Banerjee.
