Naidu, a former Andhra Pradesh chief minister, accompanied by his supporters and legislators entered the state at Nanded to protest against the ongoing work on the Babli Dam on river Godavari in the district, the police official said.

Earlier on Friday morning, Naidu launched a "bus yatra" from Andhra Pradesh border to enter Maharashtra following which the district administration went into a high alert.

Home Minister R.R. Patil warned Naidu and his supporters that they would be arrested if they attempted to create any kind of disturbance in the region.
