Bhopal: With an aim to counter Congress campaign against the BJP Government on the issue of shortage of fertilisers and other problems being faced by the farmers, the ruling party on Monday launched a yatra in Madhya Pradesh.
'Balram Shivraj Sandesh Yatra', which will cover all districts highlighting the steps taken by Government to boost growth of farm sector, was flagged-off by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bhopal.
It was launched by Ministers and senior BJP leaders at different divisional and district headquarters. Before flagging-off the motorcycle yatra – each carrying two party workers -which will touch each and every village, Chouhan pointed out steps taken by his Government for making agriculture a profitable venture.
A total of 75,000 bikes were enrolled for the yatra. He said Madhya Pradesh is the only state that offers agriculture loans at one per cent interest rate. On the Minimum Support Price announced by the Centre for purchase of wheat and paddy, the BJP Government is giving bonus of Rs 100 and Rs 50 respectively per quintal to the farmers in the state, Chouhan maintained.
Criticising the Centre for meting out 'step-motherly' treatment to MP in providing coal, power and fertilisers, he said it was being done at the behest of Congress which has become 'restless' because of the State's development in various fields under the BJP. The BJP's move comes in the backdrop of main Opposition Congress' campaign over farmer issues.
