Bihar polls: JDU names Krish chander Singh from Pipra seat
Kushwaha had tendered his resignation from the Nitish Kumar ministry on the same day after the episode became public.

Patna/Motihari: JDU on Tuesday gave ticket to Krish Chander Singh from Pipra Assembly seat as replacement of minister Awdesh Prasad Kushwaha, who was caught taking bribe in a sting operation.

Informing this, State JD(U) President Basistha Narayan Singh said that Krish Chander Singh is a Samata Party old timer. Krish Chandra Singh has been an associate of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from days of Samata Party and had unsuccessfully fought election from Madhuban seat in the same district in 1995. Like Kushwaha, he too hails from OBC Kushwaha caste.

He will take on BJP's Shyam Babu Prasad when Pipra goes to the polls in the fourth phase on November 1.

JDU President Sharad Yadav had announced withdrawal of the ticket to Kushwaha hours after the sting video that caught him taking the bribe went viral on Sunday. Kushwaha had tendered his resignation from the Nitish Kumar ministry on the same day after the episode became public.

The sting video provided fresh ammunition to BJP to attack the grand secular alliance in Bihar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred the episode prominently on Monday at his Jehanabad and Bhabua poll rallies to attack Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar.
