There are lakhs of unemployed youth in the state but the state government is not trying to fill up the posts, Manish Doshi said.

Ahmedabad: The Congress on Thursday alleged around 33 per cent posts in various Gujarat government departments were vacant, leading to unreasonable delay in carrying out public work.

"33.49 per cent government posts in 16 major departments of the state are laying vacant," Congress spokesman Manish Doshi said quoting an answer provided by the state government to the query by Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Arjun Modhwadia.

"In district panchayats 33.44 per cent posts are lying vacant while in taluka panchayats 30.74 per cent posts are lying vacant," he said.

"As the posts are lying vacant for a long time, government work is getting affected. People are complaining that their works are being delayed," Doshi said.

"There are lakhs of unemployed youth in the state but the state government is not trying to fill up the posts," he alleged.
