Lucknow: Amidst reports of a truce between the warring factions in the Samajwadi Party, party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav has left it to the discretion of his son Akhilesh Yadav whether to reinduct ministers sacked by him.
"It is entirely up to the chief minister. He has to decide"; said Yadav in Lucknow.
Amidst the raging family feud, Akhilesh Yadav had sacked four ministers including uncle Shivpal from his cabinet. The two sides indulged in a ugly spat at a function at party headquarters in Lucknow on Monday in the presence of the patriarch.
Mulayam Singh has since been trying to broker a truce between warring factions. There has been a proposal that all sacked ministers will reinducted, and in return Shivpal Yadav revokes expulsion of all Akhilesh supporters.
However it is unlikely that Rajya Sabha MP and Mulayam's cousin Ram Gopal Yadav and MLC Udayveer Singh would be taken back.
Sources say Mulayam is annoyed with the two for having made personal allegations. "I will not speak about him," said Mulayam on being asked to resend to allegations made by Ram Gopal.
One of the reasons why Mulayam refused to comment on the reinduction of ministers is being attributed to the controversy generated the last time when he announced reinduction of minister Gayatri Prajapati from the party forum. Technically, it is always the prerogative of the chief minister to take a call on such matters.
On being asked if Akhilesh Yadav would be the chief minister if party wins the elections, Mulayam reiterated his earlier stand that the elected MLAs would elect their leader.
"It is true that the last election was won on my name. But we decided to make Akhilesh the CM. The process is the newly elected MLA decide who their leader would be. That is how it is done in every party," said Mulayam.
