AAP alleges corruption by BS Bassi, Commissioner of Police ready for debate
The AAP government has indulged in a "vicious propaganda", he said.

New Delhi: The ruling AAP and Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Friday sparred over an alleged act of corruption on the part of the latter, prompting the visibly furious top cop to retort saying he will take the "cheats" to the "graveyard" and that he is open for a debate with anyone, including the Chief Minister.

Bassi said that he is open for any debate - even with the Chief Minister - on the issue of alleged corruption in connection with the allotment - and later the sale - of an apartment at a housing society years ago, an issue raised by AAP's Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj in the Assembly on Friday.

Bassi also alleged that unidentified persons, claiming to be from the Chief Minister's Office, kept coming to the concerned housing society for the past few days, allegedly looking for papers. "Those men were desperately looking for something - In fact anything, from anywhere, with which they could target me and they claimed to be following instructions from higher authorities," said Bassi.

The AAP legislator also demanded a CBI probe against Bassi, alleging that the present Police Commissioner had procured the flat in the society by allegedly flouting rules in collusion with the officers in registrar of cooperative societies (RCS).

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also said that he has sought details from the RCS regarding the issue. "I had called for related files. I was told some files have gone missing," he said.

Bassi, however, asserted that the property in question is "purely legitimate and was lawfully acquired". The AAP government has indulged in a "vicious propaganda", he said.

"I will have to get information and reply will be given. CP Delhi cannot work by hiding. CP Delhi works standing on the streets. I have never cheated and shall never get scared of such allegations. Will take such cheats to the graveyard of the cheats," Bassi told reporters.

He said that any perception that the police would stop acting as per law following such attempts of "suppression" was wrong. "Time and again they resorted to such propaganda."

"I am open for any debate in this issue, with whosoever it be - including the Chief Minister. My only point is that if you want to fight me, fight as per law, why resorting to such unreasonable ways," the commissioner said, adding that such tactics are not going to impact his work.

Bassi admitted enrolling himself as a member at the concerned housing society in Rohini (rpt) Rohini in 1989, following which he purchased a 980 square feet flat there for around Rs 2.30 lakh. For the purchase, he even claimed to have taken a departmental loan of Rs 2 lakh.
