15 ministers of Mulayam govt lose
Beside SP ministers, several senior BJP leaders, including its state unit president Kesri Nath Tripathi, also lost.

New Delhi: As the BSP on Friday stormed back into power in Uttar Pradesh, at least 15 ministers of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government failed to make their way into the Assembly.

Among the ministers who lost were Ujjwal Raman Singh, Shardanand Anchal, Narad Rai, Balram Yadav, Banwari Singh Yadav, Ashok Bajpai, Shyam Narain, Kiranpal Singh, Hari Shankar Tewari, Shakir Ali, Raja Ram Pandey and Iqbal Mehmood.

The ministers who were able to retain their place included Naresh Agarwal, Ambika Chaudhary, Awadhesh Prasad, Azam Khan, Raghuraj Pratap Singh, Arvind Singh Gope, Waqar Ahmed Shah and Mayankeshwar Saran Singh.

Several senior BJP leaders, including its state unit president Kesri Nath Tripathi, also lost.

Other BJP leaders who lost include Luxmi Kant Bajpai, Keso Mehra, Narendra singh Gaur and Om Prakash Singh.

Several mafia turned politicians have, however, won in their respective seats.

Mafia don Mukhtar Ansari won from Mau, while poetess Madhumita murder accused Amar Mani Tripathi emerged victorious at Luxmipur.

Apna Dal president Sonelal Patel has lost the polls and rebel SP leader Beni Prasad Verma even lost his security deposit in Ayodhya.

UPCC president Salman Khurseed's wife Louis Khursheed was also defeated at Kayamganj in Farrukhabad district.
