Australia came up with a massive statement of intent, the five-time World Cup champions registered the biggest win in the history of the tournament as they beat the Netherlands by 309 runs in Delhi on Wednesday. The Arun Jaitley Stadium has seen plenty of records being made and broken, and the fans were in for yet another run-fest. Glenn Maxwell scored the fastest hundred in World Cup history, to follow up David Warner’s century and Australia scored 399/9.
The Netherlands were all out for 90, and Australia picked up a massive win by 309 runs, which isn’t just the biggest by run margin in the history of World Cup, but the victory also has helped Pat Cummins’ side boost their Net Run-Rate (NRR).
Australia remain in fourth place in the ODI World Cup 2023 points table, despite their massive win, but saw their NRR skyrocket from -0.193 to +1.142. After losing their first two World Cup games, the Aussies are now on a three-match winning streak with six points from five games.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s Indian team are sitting pretty at the top of the points table with five wins from as many outings. The Men in Blue are the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far, and they have reached double figures after their win over New Zealand.
South Africa demolished Bangladesh by 149 runs on Tuesday which saw the Proteas leapfrog the Kiwis into second place, thanks to their massive NRR. Temba Bavuma and Co. have 8 points, but their superior NRR of +2.370 keeps them second ahead of New Zealand who slipped to third. The Aussies round off the final qualifying spot for the semifinals while Babar Azam’s Pakistan are in fifth place with four points from five games.
Afghanistan’s win over Babar and Co. helped them jump to sixth place, they trail the Green Army due to their inferior NRR of -0.969.

The bottom four teams are all level on two points each, Sri Lanka will face defending champions England on Thursday, but Kusal Mendis’ men remain in seventh place ahead of their showdown thanks to their NRR of -1.048.
Jos Buttler and Co. are in eighth place with -1.248 NRR, whereas Bangladesh are in ninth place with -1.253 and the Dutch fell to tenth place with -1.902 NRR that tanked owing to their massive 310-run margin loss.
