Cold Wave Grips Delhi Again: 11 Trains, Many Flights Hit as Dense Fog Shrouds Capital
Dense to very dense fog and cold day to severe cold day conditions have been predicted for Delhi

Most parts of north India continued to shiver on Saturday morning due to the cold wave conditions along with dense fog lowering the visibility and disrupting rail and air traffic in the national capital. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the fog was less denser over northwest India including Delhi and more denser over Bihar as compared to Friday at 05:30 am.

Meanwhile, several flight operations at IGI airport remained affected due to low visibility amid the fog situation and passengers could be seen awaiting the movement of their scheduled flights.

At least 11 trains approaching stations in Delhi were delayed amid the persisting conditions.

The minimum temperature in the national capital will be around 7 degrees and the maximum temperature will rise upto 15 degrees. Dense to very dense fog and cold day to severe cold day conditions have been predicted for Delhi.

Low Visibility Across North India

With IMD predicting dense to very dense fog conditions over North India during the next 5 days, Delhi Airport recorded a visibility of 1200 metres. The visibility recorded in other parts of north India – Jammu and Kashmir 200 m; Hissar (Haryana) 200 m; Chandigarh and Ambala 500 each; Dehradun (Uttarakhand) 500 m; Churu (Rajasthan) 500.

Gaya in Bihar witnessed visibility of just 200 metres. While the visibility in Jhasi, Bhagalpur, Ranchi and Jamshedpur was restricted to 500 metres.

Notably, there was a brief respite from cold weather on January 7 and 8. However, the relief was short-lived as chilly winds returned from January 9.
