Former England captain Nasser Hussain has fired New Zealand a massive warning ahead of their World Cup 2023 semifinal clash against hosts India. Even though the Kiwis eliminated India from the 2019 semifinal, Hussain feels that the current crop of Indian bowlers is the ‘best ever’ he has seen.
Memories of MS Dhoni’s heartbreaking runout are still fresh in the minds of Indian fans, who have every right to be sceptical ahead of the semifinal versus Kane Williamson and Co.
India did beat New Zealand by four wickets in the group stage clash between the two sides in Dharamsala but the knockout fixture in Mumbai on November 15 will be a totally different ball game.

Nasser Hussain meanwhile made a colossal comparison of the current Indian bowlers to the ‘Fab 5’ golden generation of batsmen in the 2000s, including the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. The five batters dominated world cricket in the early years of the millennium and the current Indian bowling unit also has the same potential according to the former English cricketer turned commentator.
“This present bowling unit is the best Indian bowling unit I have ever seen. There have been great (Indian) bowlers over time but as a unit (this is the best),” Hussain said on Star Sports.
Lavishing praise on the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, Hussain said if the pace trio fail to click on a certain day, the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja bring in success.

“If Bumrah does not get you, Siraj will. If Siraj does not get you, Shami will. If they don’t get you, the two spinners will come in and they will get you out,” Nasser added.
“There used to be Fab 5 with the bat, this is the Fab 5 with the ball now,” the veteran stated further.
Riding on the bowlers’ dominant displays, the Men in Blue remained unbeaten in the group stage, winning all nine fixtures heading into the World Cup semifinal on Wednesday.
