Chiranjeevi was once one of the biggest acting stars in Telugu cinema. He entertained the audience with his unparalleled talent and grace with several hit films. The level of his popularity was such that it even surpassed the fame enjoyed by Amitabh Bachchan.
Chiranjeevi reportedly got a remuneration of Rs 1.25 crore for his 1992 Telugu film Aapadbandhavudu, written and directed by K Viswanath. It was supposedly the highest salary ever paid to a Telugu actor at that time. During that phase, Amitabh Bachchan was charging Rs 1 crore per project. Chiranjeevi also set a record by acting in a total of 14 hit films in 1992.
Earlier, he got a major boost to his career with the 1983 hit film Khaidi directed by A Kodandarami Reddy. This film is currently streaming on the OTT platforms Jio Cinema and Amazon Prime.
As of now, Chiranjeevi has been reeling under the poor performances of his films for a long time. His films Bholaa Shankar, Waltair Veerayya, Godfather and Acharya have not received positive reviews from the critics. According to the critics, there are some major reasons why Chiranjeevi’s films are not clicking with the audience. One of them is that the actor is playing characters that fall below his age. The quality of his action films has also been mediocre, according to reports. Also, he ventured into politics and missed out on connecting with his fans.
Chiranjeevi is now looking forward to his upcoming film titled Vishwambhara. Mallidi Vasishta has written and directed this movie. As per the reports, this film is being produced, on a staggering budget of Rs 200 crore. The film will reportedly go on floors in December.
In an interview with an entertainment portal named Gulte, director Vasishta said, “Seventy per cent of ‘Vishwambhara’ will have visual effects. In this movie, we will create a new world by adding spirituality to elements like panchabhutas and trishul shakti, which are the most important in creation.”
Janhvi Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Trisha Krishnan, Rana Daggubati and Vinayakan have also acted in this movie. UV Creations has produced it.
