Actor Sunny Deol, who was once romantically linked with Amrita Singh after their blockbuster debut with Betaab in 1983, was left embarrassed after he was asked a rather personal question during a popular chat show on national television. Sunny is currently basking in the success of Anil Sharma’s recent directorial Gadar 2, which also starred Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma.
During his appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, host and senior journalist Rajat Sharma asked Sunny Deol about what his actor-father, Dharmendra, once told him about not having the courage to ‘hug’ Amrita Singh.
Quoting Dharmendra in Hindi, the host said, “Dharam ji calls you the ‘sadhu’ of the family… Dharam ji spoke about the song ‘Badal Yun Garajta Hai’ in an interview, and said that he told you to hug Amrita Singh, but you couldn’t do it.” This left Sunny visibly embarrassed.
Sunny Deol has often grabbed headlines for his personal life. Sunny, who has been married to Pooja Deol for nearly 40 years now, was linked with several actresses in the ’80s and the ’90s when he was a huge superstar in the Hindi cinema.
It was reported that Sunny had tied the knot with Pooja around the release of his debut film Betaab (1983). However, he kept his marriage a secret for “many years,” according to several media reports on the internet. Although News18 Showsha cannot confirm the authenticity of these reports.
Recently, Sunny and Pooja’s son Karan got married to his longtime girlfriend, Drisha Acharya, in the presence of their families and close friends. The Deols also hosted a grand wedding reception in Mumbai, which was attended by who’s who of Bollywood.
