In his 25-year-long illustrious career, Karan Johar has influenced the idea of love and romance in everyone’s minds with his grand movies. However, the filmmaker has often spoken about not having a romantic partner in his life. Often during his interactions with his industry friends, the running joke is that although he has helped make many celebrity matches in real life, he hasn’t been able to find a partner for himself.
Speaking at the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest, Karan revealed that in his quest to find love, he once used the celebrity dating app Raya but in vain. He said, “But every time I ticked someone, but they didn’t tick me back. They did not respond. I faced multiple rejections.” Karan said, “I had a really.. like I felt an inferiority. I was quite lenient also, ticking away but there was no correspondence.”
Karan then added that he believed that people must have thought that the account was fake. Thus, after facing many rejections, Karan quit the app. Talking about finding love in real life, Karan said, “Find someone one can relate to and be compassionate and compatible.”
Karan then added that most people face the same struggle. While it is said that one must “put yourself out there’, Karan joked, “But where is that ‘there’? I have looked for that but don’t know where to go.”
He added, “It’s damn easy to say… I have been looking for that there.. in case someone knows, please send me the address.” Karan also said that he is quite social and affable and makes it a point to meet people from different cultures and careers. Yet, he has found no love.
Speaking to Mid-Day recently, the filmmaker revealed that he has been on both online and offline dates after the pandemic, but none of those dates have resulted in a meaningful connection.
