Senior cricket journalist Ayaz Memon, in an episode of Cricketnext Presents FREEHIT with Ayaz And Anand, said that KL Rahul needs to score more and more runs as many players are ready to replace him.
“It’s a simple problem. He is not able to get runs. And in today’s time, you have to score runs since there are many players ready to take your place in the team. He’s got a poor run, but he’s not a poor player. Saying that he’s not a good player at all is, I think is very harsh,” said Ayaz.
The senior cricket journalist also said that Rahul might be given one last chance in Indore.

“He’s not not a newbie. He’s not a rookie, not a novice. He’s been around for eight-nine years. So definitely I think he will be given one more chance here. And if he doesn’t score runs in Indore then how long can you hold back somebody like Shubman Gill?,” the senior cricket journalist added.
Since January 2022, KL Rahul has played 11 Test innings as an opener, and in only one of those has got out before facing ten deliveries. On the face of it, that’s a decent enough stat for an opener, innit?
But the trouble for the Indian vice-captain is that in those 11 innings, he has only managed a 50-plus score just once. His last Test century came in December 2021 against South Africa – the 1st Test of the series that handed India’s series lead – eventually India lost the subsequent two matches to concede the series.
