'Good luck in the final, Captain': David Beckham Wishes Rohit Sharma Ahead of Team India's Final
The former England international met up with team India skipper Rohit to exchange pleasantries and jerseys while wishing the batsman well for the upcoming summit clash.

Team India registered a thumping 70-run win over semifinal opponents New Zealand in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Big names from across spheres were present at the famous cricket stadium in Mumbai to witness Rohit Sharma and Co. seal their finals berth in the process. And David Beckham, probably one of the most high-profile names in all of sport was in attendance to witness the fixture too.

After the win, the former England international met up with team Indian skipper Rohit to exchange pleasantries and jerseys while wishing the batsman well for the upcoming summit clash.

Beckham posted pictures of his meeting with the skipper with a caption that read, “Great to meet you captain Good luck in the final”

Team India, under the leadership of Rohit have reached the final without dropping a single game, going unbeaten in all ten of their games so far.

India put up 397 runs in 50 overs against the Kiwis on Wednesday before bundling out the New Zealand batting unit for 327 runs.

Rohit and Shubman Gill gave India a great start, as they have done all through the World Cup, as they produced a 71-run stand for the opening wicket with the skipper scoring an attacking 47 off 29 deliveries. Gill added 80 runs to his name in the final four encounter.

Indian star batsman Virat Kohli brought up his 50th ODI ton, thus going past the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record in the format, as he made a brilliant 117-run contribution, which took his 2023 WC run tally to 711, becoming the first batsman to breach the 700 run mark in a single edition of the ICC showpiece.

Shreyas Iyer also played a blinder as he added a century in quickfire fashion to help India to the mammoth total.

The Indian bowling unit, spearheaded by the brilliant Mohammed Shami, who picked up an incredible seven-wicket haul, restricted the fighting Kiwis to 327 to seal the men in blues’ passage to the final.
