While Maxwell’s cramping feet left him almost immobile, the Aussie batter stood in the crease with footwork as absent as the expressions on the faces of Afghanistan camp and whacked 21 boundaries paired with 10 towering maximums to bring up a stunning double century (201* in 128 deliveries) at a roaring Wankhede Stadium.

Batting first, opener Ibrahim Zadran slammed an unbeaten 129* before Rashid Khan’s 35 in 18 in the final moments catapulted Afghanistan to a towering total of 291/5. Then, Maxwell happened.
