Premier paceman Mohammed Shami asserted that in the current Indian set-up, every pacer enjoys and celebrates each other’s success as they have been very clinical with their performances in the ongoing World Cup. Shami produced another fine spell on Thursday and claimed a fifer – 5/18 against Sri Lanka to help India register a mammoth 302-run win at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Shami was named Player of the Match for his impressive bowling as he talked about the bonding of the Indian pacers after the match.

“Our bowling is in good shape and with the kind of rhythm (talking about the form of the pacers) that we are in, everyone is enjoying and everyone is happy for each other’s success and more importantly, we are bowling as a unit and that’s the result you are getting to see,” Shami said in the post-match presentation.

Talking about his performance, Shami said he looks to maintain the good rhythm as in a big tournament like the World Cup, if you lose your touch then its difficult to find it back quickly.

“I always try to bowl in good areas and be in good rhythm. In big tournaments, once the rhythm goes away, it’s very tough to get it back. I always focus on hitting the good areas and length,” he added.

With the fifer against Sri Lanka, Shami also became the leading wicket-taker for India in ODI World Cup history. He has thus far claimed 45 wickets for India.

“Very happy (on becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in World Cups) It’s very important to be in rhythm in white ball cricket and hit the good areas. If you hit the good areas with the new ball you will get assistance off the pitch and for me length matters a lot,” he suggested.

Shami also hailed the crowd for their incredible support of the Indian team wherever they play both in India and away from home.

“The kind of support we get from the crowd, I want to thank each and every one of them. We also get a lot of support whenever we travel outside India as well. The dressing room is in a very good space,” he concluded.
