Karan Johar is back with the eighth season of Koffee With Karan and fans are showing immense love for it. The first episode saw the power couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. With 11 years of togetherness, the couple openly discussed their love story and their first proposal. Ranveer revealed that he had proposed to Deepika in 2015, and the two of them successfully kept their engagement a secret for three years. He went on to confess that the engagement ring he selected for his wife was “beyond his resources.”

When inquired about the diamond ring he presented to Deepika Padukone, Ranveer said, “Yes sir, beyond my resources at the time, perhaps, but even so a very impressive one.”

Ranveer further revealed that he proposed to Deepika in Maldives. He recalled, “I was in Cahoots with my sister and mom, buying the ring. We both were going on holiday and I decided that I’d propose to her. So, I got the ring. And, my family was like, are you going to propose to her? You don’t want to consult her parents? I didn’t have that degree or maturity back then. I was like, No, I’m marrying her so I’ll ask her. So, we went to the Maldives and I secretly carried the ring with me and we did the sandbank adventure and she said yes.”

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone revealed that when she and Ranveer began dating, they initially had the freedom to see other people, but she found herself going back to him. She confessed that there was no commitment until he proposed to her. On the other hand, Ranveer disclosed that he realised Deepika was “the one” within six months of their relationship.

Ranveer and Deepika released their wedding video for the first time on the show, showcasing beautiful moments from their special occasion. It included Ranveer expressing his love for Deepika and even helping fix her makeup. The video also featured interviews with Ranveer’s father discussing the couple. It was an emotional moment that left Karan Johar moved.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone began dating in 2012 on the set of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. Later, the couple got engaged in 2015. They finally tied the knot on November 14, 2018.
