BTS' Jungkook's Solo Hit SEVEN Nominated At MTV VMA, Singer Flies To New York
Jungkook’s SEVEN has been announced as one of the nominees for the Song of the Summer category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

BTS members have been on a mission to keep their fans thoroughly entertained during the hiatus and in the process, they’ve been shattering numerous records. Meanwhile, the K-pop sensation, Jungkook took the music world by storm after his debut solo single, SEVEN. The song broke numerous records and one of them was becoming the fastest South Korean track to reach the number one spot within hours of its release on July 14 on US iTunes. Now, this catchy song has received a special nomination for the Song of the Summer category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA). Adding a special touch to the occasion, the VMAs’ official Twitter account revealed this exciting news on Jungkook’s birthday, which was on September 1.

As per reports, the BTS singer has already departed for New York, US via Incheon International Airport on the morning of September 12 to attend the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, which is scheduled to take place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

With Jungkook set to attend the Video Music Awards in person, there are speculations that he might even win the award. Interestingly, SEVEN featuring Lotto, would mark the second consecutive year of BTS singers’ nomination in the Song of Summer category. Last year, the singer made history as the first Korean solo artist to achieve this honour with his collaboration with Charlie Puth on the song Left and Right.

Meanwhile, the South Korean artist will be facing tough competition in the category, as sixteen other artists are also nominated. Among them are Korean artists like FIFTY FIFTY for Cupid and TXT for Do It Like That. The list also features talented singers such as Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, Beyonce, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and more.

BLACKPINK has earned a nomination for Show of the Summer at the MTV Video Music Awards, for their ongoing BORN PINK world tour. Additionally, the girl group along with, FIFTY FIFTY, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN and TXT have received nominations in the Group of the Year category as well.

Meanwhile, Jungkook’s SEVEN also faced plagiarism allegations from Korean composer Yang Joon-young last month, who claimed that the song was copied from a sequence from Time of Mask. However, Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS, quickly responded and clarified that the allegation against the song was not true.

Soon after the release, the song made an impressive debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, as well as the Global 200 chart.
