Vijay Varma’s Fun Post For Anubhav Sinha On IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack: ‘Aapko Superhit Hua Hai'
IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is based on true events that took place during the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814.

The Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack started streaming on August 29 and has received amazing reviews so far. The series directed by Anubhav Sinha features an ensemble cast, with Vijay Varma playing Captain of the hijacked airplane. Although the show has been embroiled in controversy since its release, it still managed to acquire a massive viewership. Vijay recently compared its success with the “box-office Tsunami” and also congratulated the director for making a “superhit” series.

Vijay Varma shared a photo of himself wearing his costume as the captain in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. The actor wore a black uniform with yellow stripes on the sleeves and buttons on the front. Vijay posed in his uniform against the backdrop of a plane. His post also included a snap of the OTT viewership estimates where the series is at the top followed by other latest releases. In the caption, he wrote, “If this was a theatrical you’d hear words like BOXOFFICE TSUNAMI, THUNDERSTORM and AVALANCHE to describe the success. But since it’s just a world class show.. I’d like to call it The Sweetest Drizzle. Thank you to our lovely audience. Mubarak ho Anubhav Sinha saab.. aapko SUPERHIT hua hai.”

Anubhav Sinha reacted to Vijay Varma’s post and noted. “Aur aapko zindabad hua hai.” Among others, Rajkummar Rao also commented, “It’s a Tsunami brother and you are the silent toofan.” Rajkummar’s wife, actress Patralekhaa, played the air hostess in the series.

Following the release, Vijay Varma had also written a thank you note to director, Anubhav Sinha, as well as the actual Captain Devi Sharan, for their courage. Sharing pictures with both of them, He wrote, “Only Captains….Thank you Anubhav Sinhaa sir for being the best captain of the ship (director) and for giving me the opportunity to play Captain Devi Sharan. Both the captains have called and given me a lot of love for the portrayal.. and so has the audience, peers and friends. Blessed and how!“Apne kaam se jab pyaar ho na.. toh kaam nahi dikhta, zimmedari dikhti hai.”

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is based on true events that took place during the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. On December 24, a plane flying from Kathmandu to Delhi was hijacked and made to land in Taliban-controlled territory in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The flight remained there for a week until December 31. The miniseries is based on the book Flight into Fear: A Captain’s Story by Captain Devi Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury. It consists of six episodes and also stars Manoj Pahwa, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and others.
