Vijay Deverakonda has opened up about playing pranks on his girlfriends. Recently, Vijay’s brother, Anand Deverakonda was promoting his upcoming movie Gam Gam Ganesha when he was asked about apeing his brother’s voice and diction. Anand explained that he and his brother have very similar voices and then took Vijay on a phone call.
Vijay recalled how he and Anand used to joke with their girlfriends on call since they have similar voices. “The day our mother couldn’t differentiate who was calling out for her was when we realised we had similar voices. We later used it to our advantage and would prank our girlfriends and friends. Anand would often pretend to be me while talking to others. We thought getting him to dub for some scenes in one of my films would be a great idea,” he said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Interestingly, Vijay Deverakonda’s comments about pranks on his girlfriends come at a time when he is rumoured to be dating Rashmika Mandanna.
Is Vijay Deverakonda Dating Rashmika Mandanna?
In April this year, the rumoured couple reportedly celebrated Rashmika Mandanna’s birthday together in Abu Dhabi. Even though the actors did not confirm their vacation, netizens noticed that Vijay Deverakonda dropped a video on his Instagram stories from the same location from where Rashmika also shared her pictures.
Prior to this, the rumoured couple’s trip to the Maldives fuelled speculation about a possible marriage announcement. It was also said that Vijay and Rashmika would get exchanged soon. However, the Liger actor later clarified that he was neither getting engaged nor getting married. “I’m not getting engaged or married in February. It feels like the press just wants to get me married every two years. I hear this rumour every year. They’re just walking around waiting to catch me and get me married,” he told Lifestyle Asia.
Besides this, Vijay was promoting Family Star when he was asked about his “romantic relationships”. The actor decided not to address dating rumours with Rashmika but rather said he is in a relationship with his parents and brother. “Yes, with my parents, with my brother, with you, and we all are in a relationship,” he said.
Vijay and Rashmika have worked together in two films – Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019). While they are rumoured to be in a relationship, they have never publicly accepted or denied their relationship.
