Finally, we have a Salman Khan mega-film Tubelight which is expected to not only help the viewers forget other releases scheduled for the upcoming months, but also impact Baahubali: The Conclusion nine-week-long record-breaking run. Yes, as we wait for Tubelight to begin its theatrical run from today, we anticipate huge piles of cash being amassed at cinema halls across the world, along with some key life lessons to learn too. Much like his previous release Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Ever since the director Kabir Khan released the trailer of Tubelight, we knew Bhai is set to impress everyone by playing a doe-eyed do-gooder with a heart of gold. And yes, much like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Tubelight will also bridge many divides, the most important being that of national identity.

The film is an official remake of Little Boy – a nostalgic drama set against the backdrop of World War II. But the fact that Kabir selected a film that neither got a huge critical acclaim nor managed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office explains his preference for its universal appeal over its not so successful Box Office collection. The film also features Matin Rey Tangu and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu in key roles.

Kabir uses the plot, war backdrop, the special ability of the protagonist and the notion of faith – much like the original, but uses an Indian context to get mass acceptance.

The film which revolves around the camaraderie shared between Laxman (Salman Khan) and Bharat (Sohail Khan) also transports the audiences to 1962 during the India-China war.

Will the story of Laxman’s search for brother Bharat - who is part of the Indian army's Kumaon regiment and called in at the Indo-China border – strike a chord with the viewers? Will the film leave several key lessons for not just Indian filmmakers and financiers, but also Salman Khan’s fans? Will Tubelight be yet another Eid miracle from Salman? Divya Pal of News18 Movies is watching the film’s first day, first show to live tweet the experience and get you all answers.
