Salman Khan and Bhagyashree’s cult film Maine Pyar Kiya returned to theatres recently after 35 years. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, this classic love story that was released in 1989 was hailed for its unforgettable songs, dialogues and the charming chemistry between the lead pair. The film marked the debut of Bhagyashree and made Salman Khan a household name in Bollywood. Maine Pyar Kiya turned out to be the biggest hit of the year and the highest grossing film of the 1980s. The film was a huge success back then. This film also set the record of grossing the second highest box office of all time after Sholay. In the era of action, this film played a major role in reintroducing the romantic genre in Bollywood. The film also did very well in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, so it was able to set records all over India. Now, fans have a chance to relive those magical moments as Maine Pyar Kiya re-released in select theatres on August 23, 2024, to mark its 35th anniversary.
Rajshri Productions, the banner behind the film, shared the exciting news on their official Instagram page. They posted a nostalgic collage featuring the lead pair with the caption, “It’s time to relive their ‘Pyar Bhari Dosti’ as #MainePyarKiya re-releases on 23rd August 2024 in selected PVRINOX Pictures and Cinepolis India theatres”.
Bhagyashree, who portrayed Suman, also shared the announcement on her Instagram Stories, adding to the excitement.
The re-release announcement has thrilled fans, who took to social media to express their excitement.
