This 2013 Neil Nitin Mukesh-starrer Holds The Record For Most Kissing Scenes In Bollywood
The film 3G, directed by Shantanu Ray Chhibber and Sheershak Anand, starred Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan as the lead.

Bollywood movies have seen major changes in recent years, from advanced visual effects (VFX) to bold romantic scenes. In the 90s, filmmakers were hesitant to show full kissing scenes. Today, things have changed drastically. Films from the early 2000s, like Murder and Khwahish, set new standards for bold scenes in Bollywood. Actor Emraan Hashmi even earned the title ‘King of Kissing Scenes’ due to his frequent lip-locks on screen.

But, surprisingly, Emraan Hashmi does not hold the record for the most kissing scenes in a Bollywood film. That record belongs to the 2013 movie 3G, which had a staggering 30 kissing scenes. Despite this, the movie was not successful. 3G, directed by Shantanu Ray Chhibber and Sheershak Anand, starred Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan as the lead. Although it made headlines for its bold content, it performed poorly at the box office.

3G broke the previous record held by Murder, known for its intense kissing scenes, but could not capture the audience’s attention. The film earned only Rs 5.9 crore, much lower than its production cost. It also received heavy criticism from viewers and critics alike. With a rating of only 12 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and 3.6 on IMDb, 3G became one of the lowest-rated Indian movies of all time.

3G was criticised not only for its content but also for its weak storyline. This led to major financial losses for the producers with the actors failing to capitalise on any aspect.

Since the release of 3G, no other Bollywood film has surpassed its record. The closest ones were Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) had 27 kisses, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor, while Befikre (2016), starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, featured 25. But neither could break the record set by 3G. While 3G may hold a unique record, it highlights that bold content alone does not guarantee box office success.
