The Movie Critic: Brad Pitt Set To Star In Quentin Tarantino's Last Film
According to the reports, Brad Pitt is set to join forces with Quentin Tarantino's final project The Movie Critic.

Quentin Tarantino’s earlier announcement about his retirement plans after his next film has left fans deeply disheartened. Meanwhile, the renowned filmmaker’s 10th directorial project, titled The Movie Critic, hints at a possible reunion with Hollywood star Brad Pitt, according to Deadline. If confirmed, this collaboration would mark their third project together, following Pitt’s appearances in Tarantino’s 2009 Nazi war film Inglourious Basterds and the 2019 hit Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. Interestingly, the 60-year-old actor’s outstanding portrayal in the latter film even earned him the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Meanwhile, reports further suggest that the upcoming movie may hit the screens in 2025.

So far, Tarantino has remained tight-lipped about his upcoming and final film. Still, according to Variety, the project is set in southern California, US during the 1970s and revolves around a film critic. Speculations claim that the storyline is inspired by the life of Pauline Kael, the respected film critic from The New Yorker, whose influence left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. On the other hand, the director while appearing at the Cannes Film Festival for the screening of Rolling Thunder in May, in an interview with Deadline, hinted that the film “is based on a guy who really lived but was never really famous and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag. He was very rude, you know. He cursed. He used racial slurs. But his shit was really funny. He was as rude as hell.”

If Brad Pitt comes on board for Quentin Tarantino’s The Movie Critic, the production may not start until mid-2024 or later. Reportedly, Pitt is already busy filming the Formula One racing movie directed by Joseph Kosinski, where he plays a veteran driver returning to the track. Due to the scheduling conflict, the shooting for The Movie Critic will likely be adjusted accordingly. While no studio is officially attached to the project, there are reports that Sony Pictures will be the preferred choice for Tarantino.

Meanwhile, Tarantino made his directorial debut with the crime drama Reservoir Dogs in 1992, which was later remade in Bollywood titled Kaante. He followed this success with the iconic 1994 film Pulp Fiction. Tarantino’s filmography also includes Jackie Brown, Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Volume 2, Death Proof, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.
