Police trace Pravin's Mumbai journey
Police are questioning Pravin to find out why it took him almost two hours to cover a 22-km stretch.

Mumbai: Pravin Mahajan, held for attempting to kill elder brother and BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan, could have planned the attack on Saturday morning when he left his home in Thane to visit the BJP leader's house in Worli, Mumbai police suspect.

Investigating officials are questioning Pravin to find out why it took him almost one-and-half hours to reach Worli from Thane, in spite of the two places just being 22 kilometers away.

Officials say Pravin claimed he was engrossed in thoughts all through the journey.

"He has been telling us that from Thane to Worli, he was thinking of Pramod and the ill-treatment meted out by him," the investigating officials said.

Officials are directing their probe to find out if Pravin had made up his mind to kill the BJP leader if his last ditch attempt to sort out things between the two failed.

"It appears that Pravin was more disturbed the morning he left for Worli and could not concentrate on driving, as a result of which he reached late at the BJP leader's house," police sources said.

However, when questioned, Pravin maintained that the attack was not pre-planned and took place at the spur of the moment, police sources further said.

Police have asked for Pravin’s cellphone records as they suspect he had talked to some people in between Thane and Worli.

Questioning them could give important clues about the investigation, police sources said.
