Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja have acquired the iconic music retail store, Rhythm House, in Mumbai. As per a report in Bloomberg, the couple’s Bhaane Group bought the famous music store for a whopping Rs 478.4 million (5.7 million dollars), thereby adding a notable and iconic property to their real estate portfolio. The 3,600 square foot Rhythm House, which was established in the 1940s, is located in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda district. The famed music store had been shuttered in 2018, after Nirav Modi, the owner of Firestar Diamond International Pvt that ran the store, defaulted on bank loans.

A resolution professional appointed by the Indian bankruptcy court to oversee this sale informed Bloomberg, “The stakeholder committee has approved the sale of Rhythm House for 478.4 million rupees.” The news of this purchase was also confirmed by a spokesperson for Bhaane. Bhaane is a division of Shahi Exports Pvt, owned by Sonam Kapoor’s father-in-law Harish Ahuja.

Meanwhile, the Rhythm House had once hosted renowned and legendary musicians like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson, as well as Bollywood stars. Prior to its closure, it was the go-to place for music lovers who visited the store for vinyl records, cassettes, and later CDs and DVDs. According to The Economic Times, Nirav Modi purchased the Rhythm House in 2017 from the Curmally family for Rs 32 crore, with plans to turn it into a luxury jewellery showroom.

Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, it was reported that Sonam Kapoor’s father-in-law Harish Ahuja invested in a property worth Rs 231.47 crore in London’s Notting Hill. Bloomberg reported that Sonam and Anand plan to use a section of this property for their private residence post redevelopment.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, who tied the knot in 2018, welcomed their son Vayu in August 2022. The couple primarily lives in London, but also own a home in Delhi.

On the work front, Sonam Kapoor was last seen in the 2023 film Blind, directed by Shome Makhija. She will reportedly begin filming for her next project in early 2025.
