Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has been subjected to immense trolling over her inter-faith marriage with Zaheer Iqbal. Sonakshi and Zaheer opted for a civil marriage, which took place at the actress’ Bandra home on June 23. Unfortunately, the couple had to disable the comments section while sharing their official photos from their civil marriage and reception due to unwarranted hate and negativity.
Now, Sonakshi has seemingly addressed the trolls who have been criticising her inter-faith marriage on social media. The actress re-shared a post on her Instagram story that talked about love being “the universal religion”. Sonakshi also dropped a comment on the post shared by Prasad Bhat, and wrote, “Truest words!! This is adorable! Thank you.”
Meanwhile, veteran actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha has also lashed out at those protesting against his daughter Sonakshi’s inter-faith wedding with Zaheer Iqbal and calling it “love jihad”.
“Anand Bakshi saab has written about such professional protestors, ‘Kucch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. To this I would like to add, ‘Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai (For unemployed people, this is all the work they have).’ My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional,” he told Times Now.
“A wedding is a very personal decision between two people; no one has the right to interfere or comment. To all the protestors I say – go, get a life. Do something useful with your life. Aur kucch nahi kehna (I have nothing else to say),” the veteran actor added.
Sonakshi and Zaheer dated for seven years before taking their relationship to the next level. While they got hitched in an intimate ceremony, the couple hosted a grand reception for their friends from the film industry.
Several celebrities including Salman Khan, Kajol, Vidya Balan, Rekha, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aditya Roy Kapur, Tabu and Anil Kapoor, among others attended Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s star-studded reception.
